Physical and Mental Characteristics Half-aquatic elves lack the distinctive gills of their elven parent, and are no water breathers. They have pale green or pale blue skin. The hair is mainly the colour found in the human parent’s community but it may have a slight blue or green tint. As their hair turns silvery grey with the passage of time this tint becomes more pronounced. Their sea elven parents are more robust than other elves, so half-aquatic elves have are stronger build than common half elves. They have much the same body build as a human. Half-sea elves may not be able to breathe underwater but they are excellent swimmers. They are drawn to the sea so strongly that if they are away for more then a tenday they may be sad and distracted t such an extent it affects their judgement and will power. A half- aquatic elf matures at the same rate as a common half elf, and lives just as long. They sleep like humans, and do not enter revierie or trance. Distribution All half-aquatic elves are found on the fringes of the Sea of Fallen Stars. It seems the sea elves of the Great Sea do not mate with humans. They are always isolated individuals in a human community, and their overall numbers are very low. A half-aquatic elf is a very rare sight. Culture and Outlook Half elves are always members of a human community. They lack the ability to breathe underwater so physically cannot be raised by their elven parent. They are always raised by the human parents, though the elven parent may stay in contact. Their numbers are just too low for them to form their own communities. This means a half elf is always somewhat of an outsider. However this has not made them sad and bitter as is the case in so many common half elves. Half-sea elves let their love of the sea fill the gap left by their need to belong. They are a contemplative, self-contained folk with part of their awareness always attuned to the sea lending them a dreamy, far off air. Half aquatic elves always live on the coast and pursue careers that take them out on the sea or even in the sea as divers. Luckier individuals stayed in contact with their elven parents, and these act as guards and guides when their children venture onto the sea. Half-sea elves are a tolerant folk who are fascinated by elves of all kinds. Though they always live among humans they are accepting and friendly to all races – prejudice is not part of their make-up. Many follow Deep Sashelis, especially those who have stayed in contact with their elven parents. Half-aquatic clerics and mages are especially drawn to the magics of water and the ocean. Spells that enable them to breathe under water are a particular favourite. Their elven blood gives them the magical resistance of their elven parents.
